What We Believe

Our Statement
of Faith

Built on the Word of God. Empowered by the Holy Spirit. Centered on Jesus Christ.

Our Foundation

Rooted in Scripture, Led by the Spirit

At United In Jesus Christ, we hold to the historic Christian faith as revealed in the Bible. We are a Spirit-filled, Sabbath-keeping church that believes in the full authority of Scripture, the power of the Holy Spirit, and the centrality of Jesus Christ in all things. Below you will find the core doctrines that shape our worship, our teaching, and our daily walk with God.

10 Core Doctrines

What We Stand On

01

The Holy Scriptures

We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God. It is our ultimate authority for faith, doctrine, and daily living. Every book, from Genesis to Revelation, is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, correction, and equipping believers for every good work.

"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work."

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (ESV)

02

The Godhead

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and co-eternal, united in purpose and nature. God is the creator, sustainer, and redeemer of all things.

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."

Matthew 28:19 (ESV)

03

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross as an atoning sacrifice for our sins, was buried, and rose bodily on the third day. He ascended to heaven, where He sits at the right hand of the Father, and He will return in glory.

"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth."

John 1:14 (ESV)

04

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit as a distinct experience available to all believers. The gifts of the Spirit are active and operating in the church today. The Holy Spirit empowers believers for service, convicts the world of sin, and guides us into all truth. We worship in Spirit and in truth.

"And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance."

Acts 2:4 (ESV)

05

Salvation by Grace

We believe that salvation is a gift of God, received through faith in Jesus Christ alone. It is not earned by human effort or good works. When a person repents of sin and places their trust in Christ, they are forgiven, made new, and sealed by the Holy Spirit for the day of redemption.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast."

Ephesians 2:8-9 (ESV)

06

The Sabbath

We observe the seventh-day Sabbath (Saturday) as established by God at creation and affirmed throughout Scripture. From sunset Friday to sunset Saturday, we set aside the busyness of the world to rest, worship, and draw near to God. Jesus Himself kept the Sabbath, and we follow His example with joy. The Sabbath is not a burden. It is a gift.

"And he said to them, 'The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.'"

Mark 2:27-28 (ESV)

07

Water Baptism

We practice water baptism by full immersion in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Baptism is an outward expression of an inward transformation. It symbolizes the believer's identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

"We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life."

Romans 6:4 (ESV)

08

The Second Coming of Christ

We believe in the literal, visible, and bodily return of Jesus Christ. He will come again in power and glory to judge the living and the dead, to establish His eternal kingdom, and to make all things new. This is the blessed hope of every believer.

"Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven."

Acts 1:11 (ESV)

09

The Church

We believe the church is the body of Christ, a community of believers called to worship, fellowship, and serve one another. The local church gathers regularly to hear the Word, break bread, pray, and encourage one another. We are called to love God and love people.

"And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near."

Hebrews 10:24-25 (ESV)

10

Cheerful Giving

We believe that giving is an act of worship that flows from a grateful heart. It is not a legal requirement or obligation, but a joyful response to the goodness of God. Every believer is encouraged to give as the Lord leads, freely and without compulsion.

"Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."

2 Corinthians 9:7 (ESV)

The Heart of Our Faith

"For I delivered to you as of first importance
what I also received: that Christ died for our sins."

1 Corinthians 15:3 (ESV)

Sola Scriptura

The Bible Is Our Final Authority

We do not add to or take away from the Word of God. Every doctrine we hold, every practice we follow, and every decision we make as a church is tested against the Scriptures. Tradition, culture, and personal opinion must always submit to the authority of the Bible. We encourage every believer to read, study, and know the Word for themselves.

Old Testament

39 books from Genesis to Malachi, revealing God's creation, covenant, law, and promise of a coming Messiah.

New Testament

27 books from Matthew to Revelation, recording the life of Christ, the birth of the church, and the hope of His return.

One Story

66 books written over 1,500 years by 40 authors, yet telling one unified story of God's redemptive love for humanity.

Empowered by the Spirit

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit
has come upon you."

Acts 1:8 (ESV)

Common Questions

About Our Beliefs

We are a Spirit-filled, Sabbath-keeping Christian church. We believe in the authority of the Bible, the Godhead (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, the baptism and gifts of the Holy Spirit, water baptism by immersion, the seventh-day Sabbath, and the literal return of Jesus Christ. Our full Statement of Faith is detailed on this page.

We observe the seventh-day Sabbath (Saturday) because it was established by God at creation (Genesis 2:2-3), included in the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:8-11), and kept by Jesus throughout His earthly ministry (Luke 4:16). We believe the Sabbath is a gift from God for rest, worship, and spiritual renewal.

Yes. We believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit described in 1 Corinthians 12 and Acts 2 are active and operating in the church today. This includes speaking in tongues, prophecy, healing, and other spiritual gifts given by the Spirit for the edification of the body of Christ.

We primarily use the English Standard Version (ESV) for our English-language services and study. We also conduct services in Russian. We believe all faithful translations of the Bible are valuable and encourage personal study in whatever version helps you best understand God's Word.

Yes. We practice water baptism by full immersion in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Baptism is an outward expression of an inward transformation and symbolizes the believer's identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Romans 6:4).

We believe giving is an act of worship from the heart, not a legalistic obligation. We follow the teaching of 2 Corinthians 9:7, which says each person should give as they have decided in their heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion. God loves a cheerful giver.

We are an independent, non-denominational Christian church. While we share common beliefs with many Christian traditions, we are not affiliated with any specific denomination. Our foundation is the Bible alone as the Word of God.
